Granny's Home Cooking: A Bikers Destination.

Parked at Granny's. Watch for rocks,
the parking lot is gravel.
One of the fun things about motorcycle riding is finding great places to eat along the way. This weekend while out on the 42 Bypass going to Highway 11 I discovered a great place to grab a bite called "Granny's Home Cooking."

Pretty much any restaurant named Mamma's or something like that will get my attention.  I'm always looking for locally owned small restaurants that cater to the lunch crowd or truckers. You will almost always find the best home cooking at these road side eateries.

Granny's did not disappoint!

Granny's serves breakfast and lunch, they close in the afternoon and do not serve supper. However they are open on Sunday. Granny's is not a fancy restaurant, it's typical for an older building that has survived many names and styles over the years. The furniture may not match and the chairs may wobble, but the food is excellent!
The menu consists of the usual fair, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, seafood and catfish. The catfish is fantastic and they make their own tarter sauce, which is awesome!

Good Prices, Good Food.
Look for the sign,
Granny's Home Cooking!
The menu is simple but loaded with
selections. Breakfast & Lunch.
As with many road side cafe in the south, you can judge if they are good or great by the Sweet Tea they serve. I would say Granny's sweet tea rivals all the local pit stops in our town. It's that sweet and perfect!

Portions are always important. It's one thing to have good food and quite another if they don't give you enough of it. Not an issue at Granny's, they pile it high and give you plenty.  Plus you can get a slice of delicious cake for a dollar.

So if you are out rolling on two wheels and find yourself on the 42 bypass with a hunger that won't stop, drop by Granny's!  Here's the address:
Granny's Home Cooking 5576 Hwy 42 Hattiesburg, Ms 39401 Phone: 601.408.8486 or 601.596.8451

Make it your destination or a stop along the way, and enjoy some good home cooking in my town!
