Native American Flute Music

Anyone who knows me knows I am into Native American Flute Music. However I rarely get the opportunity to listen to it live. I have a few CD's of various artists and I listen to them, but to hear it live, well, that is awesome.

Last Sunday Paul McAuliffe came to town and performed at a local church. He has a new CD called, Young Cat Dreams and on this CD he plays a variety of ethnic flutes. I was able to purchase the CD there and have Paul autograph it. You can hear samples off the CD here.

Here is a little Spiel about the CD...

"Young Cat Dreams: Quiet Time Music For Kids Of All Ages" is comprised of over an hour of original, soothing solo ethnic flute music. Paul has created this from-the-heart, peaceful music to be used for lullabies, general quiet time, meditation, or just to help relieve the stress of the day. Many people have told Paul that if their children or grandchildren are having difficulty sleeping, Paul's quiet flutes are the only thing that will help the kids relax enough to drift off to Dreamland. There are 11 different wooden and bamboo flutes on the CD."

Paul is originally from Albany, New York, and now resides in Panama City, Florida. Fifty-one years old, he has lived in the Green Mountains of Vermont, on the Maine coast, in the Chihuahuan Desert of the West Texas border country, and in Big Cypress Swamp in South Florida.

He researches the history and performance techniques of ethnic flutes, as well as drums and other wind instruments.
He plays Native American flutes, Japanese Shakuhachi, Bansuri from India, Didgeridoo from Australia, Dvoyanka from Eastern Europe, Overtone Flute from Norway, Celtic Tin Whistle, Oja from Nigeria, Tarka, Quena, and Pan Flute from South America, etc.

The concert was awesome though I would have liked to hear more. One hour isn't enough! Paul is autistic and throughout the concert he talked about growing up, dealing with autism and learning how to be social. It was very enlightening and the music was fantastic.

Rarely do I find a CD that I like all the cuts on the disc, but this new CD from Paul is easy to listen to from start to finish. Perfect to relax or meditate with as well. Check out Pauls web site here, he has another CD entitled, "Meditations of Ethnic Flutes" available.

Even better, buy the CD and enjoy it whenever you want!
